Held by the Ancestors

In this two-hour participatory performance, Darja Samdan and Dan Dansen accompany participants on a shamanic journey to trans ancestors from times past.
Who were our trans ancestors? What could we learn from them if they could speak to us? From early Europe to the Enlightenment, very little is known about people who lived between genders. In this workshop, we create a ritual space in which participants can connect with trans ancestors through questions. Dan Dansen holds the space as a performer, and Darja Samdan travels to the ancestors on behalf of the participants. Participants can experience a journey back hundreds of years to their trans ancestors or accompany beloved trans ancestors to the destination of their journey.
